Extra Bis Peeled Avola almonds belong to the Sicilian Almond family and within them to the Avola Mandorle family, Pizzuta cultivar. The term Avola Almond Extra Bis refers to the Avola Almond calibrated in the largest size.
The Mandorla Pizzuta di Avola is the most prized almond in the world and owes its name to the elongated and pointed shape which gives it an unmistakable appearance as well as its characteristic and unique aroma. It is the chosen almond of the highest quality confectionery and pastry shops.
These almonds are free of the cuticle that covers them thanks to a peeling process.
The peeling is obtained through a system which involves soaking the almonds in hot water at 90° for ten minutes and drying them in an air oven at 80° for about thirty minutes in order to remove the skin that covers it.
Guaranteed Sicilian cultivar, Avola almonds come exclusively from the south-east of Sicily, from trees grown according to a thousand-year-old tradition, naturally and without the use of any chemical product. Pearl of taste, it enriches the entire traditional Sicilian cuisine ranging from pastry making to cooking as well as being excellent as a hunger-busting snack or for appetizers.
Also particularly suitable as a precious ally for the body’s well-being as it is rich in proteins, fibre, vitamins, potassium, magnesium and monounsaturated fatty acids.
NA.mA almonds are 100% natural ; no chemical products are used on the trees or fruits. The harvest takes place manually between July and August.
The Avola almond is one of the most famous and good Italian almonds. Excellent for the organoleptic qualities it contains and also for its nutritional properties, with a quantity of polyphenols three times higher than those from California, it is rich in antioxidants, but also in magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and Vitamin E.
