They are an excellent source of “good” fats essential to our body and represent an ideal snack.
The company processes only the highest quality hazelnuts.
The properties of hazelnuts
Hazelnuts are an excellent source of vitamins , minerals (potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium), proteins , fibre , essential fatty acids (the so-called “good” fatty acids) and antioxidants (such as vitamin E).
In detail, the elements present in hazelnuts:
- good fats : such as oleic acid (monounsaturated fatty acid) and linoleic acid (essential polyunsaturated fatty acid), which help keep bad cholesterol (LDL) levels low and promote the increase in good cholesterol (HDL);
- fibres : they allow an increase in the sense of satiety, an improvement in intestinal transit and a reduction in the absorption of simple sugars and fats, especially cholesterol;
- vitamin E : very powerful antioxidant, protects cells from environmental toxins and the action of free radicals;
- folates (vitamin B9) : fundamental for women’s health at all ages, whether they plan to become pregnant or not, but especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- potassium : essential mineral involved in blood pressure control, cardiac health, nerve transmission and hydro-salt exchange at the cellular level;
- magnesium : mineral that regulates calcium levels in the muscles, but which also guarantees the well-being of bones, joints and heart;
- phosphorus : it is the structural element of teeth, bones and cells and supports the immune system;
- calcium : it is the most abundant mineral in our body, essential for bones, muscles and nerves;
- phytosterols (in particular β-sitosterol) : act at the intestinal level to reduce the absorption of cholesterol;
- plant compounds such as carotenoids , flavonoids and proanthocyanidins : they play an important role in reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer and other chronic diseases.
What are the health benefits of hazelnuts?
Thanks to the presence of many elements, important for our health, and their combined action, the benefits that derive from a constant consumption of hazelnuts can be summarized:
- weight control , thanks to the sense of satiety, which derives from the fibrous component which activates digestive enzymes;
- reduction of the risk of cardiovascular diseases due to the action of unsaturated fats and phytosterols;
- reduction of bad cholesterol and increase of good cholesterol ;
- reduction of blood pressure due to the good quantity of potassium;
- reduction of the risk of developing diabetes and improvement of glycemic control (fibre, good fats and proteins that modulate blood sugar);
- strengthening of bones and muscles ;
- improvement of intestinal transit (richness in fibre);
- reduction of the risk of cancer : from scientific studies, it has emerged that the consumption of at least 5 portions of dried fruit per week would be able to reduce the risk of the onset of some tumors (in particular colorectal, endometrial and pancreas).
